hands to crown
inspired by people living with alopecia
-
The eyeshadow name lives in a single gesture. In ballet, the arms rise to fifth position en haut: rounded above the head, forming what dancers call the crown. It is the position of arrival, of being lifted, of reaching the highest point and holding it there with grace. And the hands rise to the crown of the head for another reason, too. For someone living with alopecia, the crown is the most tender place where fingers go to check, to touch, to know yourself. The same place. The same reach. The same hands.
Hands to Crown is the moment that gesture turns toward triumph. It insists that the place you once learned to hide can become the place you carry highest. The warm-rosy pink itself is the color of skin and of dawn. Not a shade that draws the eye to what's missing, but one that warms the whole face, that says the crown was never the hair. It was always the head beneath it, held high.
