Nothing here was guessed.
No shade launches until someone who lives with the condition has seen it and told us what to change. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right person, and the shade waits until we do.
With Breathtaking Glow, it was a friend of Eva's who has asthma. She liked the color, then told us what the story was missing: the small daily logistics, like checking the air quality before you head out. That's in the shade's description now because she put it there.
It's the slowest part of making these, and the part we'd keep if we had to drop everything else.
Inspired by people living with alopecia.
Symbolism: The eyeshadow name lives in a single gesture. In ballet, the arms rise to fifth position en haut: rounded above the head, forming what dancers call the crown. It is the position of arrival, of being lifted, of reaching the highest point and holding it there with grace.
For someone living with alopecia, the crown is the most tender place where fingers go to check, to touch, to know yourself. The same hands that reach in ballet reach to this place, and the gesture becomes both comfort and reckoning.
