Accessibility
How we’re building this for everyone.
Eva has 99% hearing loss and epilepsy. Accessibility is the reason the business exists. That doesn’t mean we’ve got everything right — here’s where we actually are.
01 What we’ve built so far
- QR audio stickers. Free with any order. Scanned, they read the shade name and color aloud, from any angle. Designed for blind and low vision customers.
- Written descriptions on every image. Every product photo on this site carries a written description of the color, the finish, and what’s in the frame, so a screen reader can describe it properly rather than reading out a filename.
- Transparent cases. You can see the shade without opening it, which makes a stack easier to sort by sight or by touch.
- Color described in words. Every shade is written out as well as shown, so the color is available to you whether or not you can see the swatch.
02 Sound, captions & silence
Every video with a voice in it is captioned, here and on Instagram. Eva can’t watch an uncaptioned video, and we’re not going to make anyone else do it either.
Some of our videos have no voiceover at all. Those don’t need captions — but we say so on the post, so you’re never left wondering whether you’re missing something or whether your sound is broken. If music is doing real work in a video rather than just setting a mood, we note that too.
03 Motion and flashing
This one is personal, so we’ve been careful with it.
Nothing on this site flashes, strobes, or flickers. Where something moves — the shade roulette, the pans on our pick & play page — we’ve deliberately held it below three changes per second, the threshold used for photosensitive seizure risk. If your device or browser is set to reduce motion, our animations turn themselves off entirely.
If you find anything on this site that moves in a way that bothers you, tell us and we’ll change it. That one matters to us more than most.
04 What we’re still working on
We’re working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the site. We’re not there on every page yet, and we’d rather say so than claim otherwise. Known gaps we’re actively fixing:
- [ Keyboard navigation on the shade quiz and shade roulette ]
- [ Color contrast on some small text ]
- [ Anything else you know about — list it ]
This list will get shorter. When it does, we’ll update this page rather than quietly deleting the entry.
05 If something doesn’t work for you
Email hello@imperfectionist.beauty with “Accessibility” in the subject line and it comes straight to us. We aim to reply within [ 2 business days ], and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can fix it, when, or if we can’t.
And if you’d like to order but the website itself is the thing standing in the way, email us and we’ll take the order that way instead.
